3rd Week in Wellington

The more memorable thing that happened would probably be during my weekend... I'm always looking forward to it... haha~

On Fri night, I had my dinner at this korean restaurant with Anisa and her two house-mate. Can you believe it... Korean food in New Zealand. haha~ and Kimchi...

after the dinner, we all went back to Staffford House and I spent a night there.

The next afternoon, we had dim sum at Regal Chinese Restaurant. Yum Cha~ haha... we ordered the usual dim sum like har gau, xiu mai, cha siew bao, wu kwok and they even have bo lo bao... but they called it custard bun. Yum cha in Wellington is kinda pretty weird coz they also serve deep-fried squid and crab.

That night, is a big night for the Kiwis. Coz ALL BLACKS is having a match with South- Africa at the Westpac Stadium. Dominique, Elvin, Anisa and I went to watch the match. ALL BLACKS won the match at 35-17. That night, most of the Kiwis were celebrating for the victory.

2nd week in Wellington

Sch has started... Instead of taking 5 modules, I can only take 3 now... so sad... they are, Design, Sustainable Archi and Western Archi... Meaning when I go back to SG, I need to take 6 modules for my sem 1 of 4th yr...

on wed nite, the gang came over to my apartment for dinner.

I bought manuka honey... Yeah! Me, being used to those herbal tea thingy back in SG. So without them, me got sore-throat easily... Now that I've got MANUKA HONEY, me feel better (well, thats the only way to keep myself healthy in NZ)

fri nite, we went to this ICF meeting... there's where I met alot more Malaysian students... its also a good opportunity to get to know christianity better but I guess I cant go for the meeting for the rest of the fridays as the fellowship meeting starts at 6.30pm and my lesson ends at 6.30. The next day, we went to Te Papa Museum with the ICF members and few "missionaries" from England. After which, they drove us to a farm which is out of the city (to have ice-cream... yummy!) Along the way, I finally see many sheeps and cows... and horses... (you wont get to see them in the city)

The ice-cream we ate are home made and are super delicious... I took two scoops- chocolate n honey... Yummy... but its not really fun to eat ice-cream during winter... coz it makes you feel even colder! After the ice- cream feast... we went to the chocolate factory... but I didnt buy any.

1st week in Wellington

Wellington is kinda boring city... the shops close at 5.30pm and soon after that, all streets will be very quite. I couldnt get use to it as yet...

Basically the whole week is Orientation week... and I got to know Anisa thru this International/Exchange student Orientation thingy. Anisa is from SMU here for exchange too, and she stays in Stafford House... the place where Elvin and Eunice stay... and the place which I hope to move over to... I'm so glad to know another Singaporean (Anisa is from Msia but studys in SG) here, meaning I will not get that bored that easily... and hopefully...

On one of the night, we went for this night life thingy organised by the seniors... they brought us to check out the pubs here... From night life, I got to know Dominique from SG who will be here for 3 yrs, I think... and Ferry (erm... dunno how to spell his name) He's from Indonesia.

On Sat, I went to the harbour and bays with Anisa and Lella (my house-mate), scenery was quite pretty and weather is wonderful... Finally its a sunny day... (it has been raining for the past few days and nights)

On sun, I went to this sunday market. I finally see bean spouts... "xiao bai cai" and "cai xin"... I bought lots of vege and fruits, intending to stock up for the coming week. This is the first time I got so excited over buying vegetables... (I feel like I'm a housewife... and thats bad)

The Day has Come

The day has come... 2nd July 2006

I woke up in the morning feeling nothing special but in fact, in a few hours time, I will be on the plane to New Zealand. My parents and some of my relatives went to send me off. Clara came too... Everything feels alrite until... I walked into the Duty-Free area in the airport. I began to realise that I will be all alone in a foreign country. I turned back to look at my parents, I began to feel scared...

Throughout the whole flight, I was with Elvin, another exchange student from NUS... 10 hrs later, we were in Auckland, awaiting to catch a domestic flight to Wellington but... weather turns foggy... the airport was closed and our flight was cancelled. Elvin managed to get us the next flight to Wellington at 4.30pm but it was further delayed. By the time I got to my hostel, it was nearly 7plus.

The service was quite bad, I got into my apartment and found out there's no electricty. I quickly went down and got it fixed but when I return to my room... the lonely feeling came back... I've never been through situations like this before and I guess this will be the one and only time in my life...

I miss my parents...
